January 21st, 2010From Sundance with LoveDear Parkites, Friends, Visitors, Sundancers, After watching the devastating effects of the earthquake in Haiti, I had the same feeling that everyone had; an overwhelming desire to help in any way possible. Getting ready to travel back to Park City, UT for the Sundance Film Festival, I thought that the festival could provide a unique opportunity to put together a donation drive to benefit Haiti. Inevitably, after Sundance there is quite a lot of perfectly good stuff (promotional items, clothing, toiletries) leftover. It is my hope that none of these things will go to waste. When: January 21st to January 31st This effort is a collaboration with Recycle Utah and The Industrial Supply Company in Salt Lake City. Recycle Utah has generously offered to let us use some space at the Park City Recycle Center as the central location for donation drop offs. Not only do they have the space, but they are extremely helpful. The directions to the Recycle Center as well as other details are available at the website. The donations gathered from the Park City collection will be added to the shipment that is already being organized by the Industrial Supply Company and their network, using their resources for shipment and distribution. The pipeline for getting goods from company locations to a central staging point for shipping to Haiti has been established. Several groups with experience working in Haiti have been lined up to ship and distribute industry contributions. The United Nations, the Red Cross, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) are among those groups.
