Latinx Outreach
The Latinx community makes up 22% of the Park City population and has historically been left behind in the environmental movement. Recycle Utah is grateful to have received a Park City Climate Fund grant from the Park City Community Foundation to support us in environmental outreach to the Latinx community.
Recycle Utah is committed to building a stronger and more trusting relationship with the Latinx community including them in our vision of empowering people to lead sustainable lives.
With the help of three Bright Futures students through 2021-2023 we:
● Delivered 120 quality reusable grocery bags to replace single-use
plastic disposables.
● Installed 160 LED bulbs to improve energy efficiency.
● Distributed 40 water filters to avoid the use of single-use plastic
disposable water bottles.
● Brought our programming to 6 locations, visiting places like the
Christian Center of Park City and St. Mary’s Church.
● Conducted community clean-up with over 30 participants.
● Held focus group to bring in new ideas and future collaborations to
better reach the Latino community in Park City.
● Educated 103 youth and adults in schools on various sustainability
topics.
